Welcome to Kirkland!
As one of Seattle's suburban communities, Kirkland is the only city on the east side of Lake Washington that possesses a waterfront downtown. Public sculptures, especially large bronze works, are scattered throughout the city and provide evidence of Kirkland's great appreciation for the arts. The downtown is especially artsy and its waterfront location is an ideal place for a stroll. Shops, restaurants and art galleries are plentiful, and along Central Way is Kirkland Parkplace, which contains a cinema and an array of boutiques and eateries. In celebration of the performing arts, visitors can attend a show, event, or performance at the 400-seat Kirkland Performance Center.Kirkland's many parks allow people to enjoy nature from inside the city. Juanita Bay Park, Marina Park and Waverly Beach are situated on the lake and offer water activities like canoing, fishing and swimming.
